Accepted in Christ

What does it mean to be “accepted in Christ?” Those of us who have accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior have much to rejoice about. As believers, we belong to the Lord Jesus Christ, who is the King of kings and Lord of lords. We are on our way to heaven where Jesus is now seated at God’s right hand after He shed His blood and died for our sins. He was raised from the dead, and at the appointed time he ascended to His Father.  Accepted in Christ means we are “eternally secured” in Him. Has He […]

Christ — The Christian’s Life

Accepting Jesus Christ as Savior is not just attending Church on Sundays, or becoming a member of the church, or getting to go to heaven, and having some thoughts about religion. It’s much, much more than that. Coming to know Jesus Christ as one’s Savior is only the beginning of the Christian life. One is saved to become a disciple of Christ. This means having a personal relationship with Christ each and everyday. The Bible says, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has past away; behold the new has come” (2 Corinthians 5:17). […]

Why bother going to church?

Church attendance can be a very controversial subject because people attend or don’t attend church for a variety of reasons—personally and otherwise. Some are persuaded that by watching a live or recorded radio or TV broadcast of a Church service is sufficient to meet their spiritual needs. Nothing could be further from the truth. However, people who are homebound or otherwise incapacitated, God knows and understands each situation.  We can worship anywhere or any time we choose. However, there is such an awe, a beauty, a wonderful and inspiring experience of going to Church which nothing can replace. In doing […]

What is it about the Cross?

Why is such great emphasis being placed on the cross of Jesus Christ? In his letter to the Galatians, the Apostle Paul declared: “But far be it from me to boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world” (Galatians 6:14). For Paul, Jesus’ death on the cross meant that the world died to him and he has died to the world. Therefore, the cross becomes the great dividing line or barrier between the world and the Christian. First of all, and of great importance is […]

“Why Holy Week?”

Holy Week (or Passion Week) is the most significant and sacred week for Christians world-wide. One of the reasons is that it is the last week of the earthly life of the Lord Jesus Christ. The week begins on “Palm Sunday” and ends on Easter Sunday when Christians celebrate the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. Palm Sunday commemorates the humility, and yet “triumphal entry” of Jesus Christ into the holy city of Jerusalem riding on a donkey. He was greeted by large crowds “who took branches of palm trees and went out to meet Him” (John 12:13). Palm Sunday also […]

“How Courageous Are You?”

The word courageous simply means “to be brave; fearless; bold.” In his charge to Timothy, the Apostle Paul wrote, “For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline.  So do not be ashamed to testify about our Lord” (2 Timothy 1:7-8).  Note: “a spirit of power” and “do not be ashamed.”   Paul’s charge to Timothy is applicable to Christians today.  We have the reliable God-given power, and absolutely nothing to be ashamed or afraid of. One of the loveliest verses in Isaiah is where the prophet records what God is saying to […]

“Just This One Thing!”

King David declared: “One thing I have desired of the LORD, That will I seek: That I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life. To behold the beauty of the LORD;  And to inquire in His Temple” (Psalm 27:4).  And it expresses King David’s triumphant faith and love for Almighty God. It seems that David had adjusted his life to one top priority. It also reveals that David was a  man of indomitable spirit. David knew exactly what he wanted, and he was determined to get it. Nothing could stand in his way.  How does this […]

The Sovereignty of God Almighty

Sovereignty means unlimited power and authority.  Whereas the Bible presents much about the Sovereignty of God, yet there is no attempt in the Scriptures to prove God’s existence.  The very first words in all of the holy Scriptures tell us, “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth” (Genesis 1:1). Since this Sovereign God is also the divine author of the Bible, it means that “All scripture is breathed out by God and is profitable for teaching, reproof, correction and instruction in righteousness” (2 Timothy 3:16). One of the Hebrew names or titles for God is “El Elyon,” which […]

“True Christians are the “Doers”!”

The Bible states, “But be doers of the word, and not hears only, deceiving yourselves” (James 1:22).  It is absolutely essential for believers in the Lord Jesus Christ to put in practice the teachings of God’s Holy Word. How else can we live spiritually productive, God-pleasing lives and thereby obtain the great blessings God has in store for His people? The word “do” is an “action” verb, which means “to act on, or to carry out.”  Hence, “doers of the Word” mean to act on, or to carry out what the Bible instructs or teaches in everyday living.  For instance, the Bible says […]

THE LORD IS MY SHEPHERD!

“The LORD is my Shepherd” is the beginning of the popular and well-known 23rd Psalm. And it signifies a deeply personal relationship where God knows His sheep by their name and provides for their well-being, comfort, and happiness. This Psalm  was written by King David. In it he portrays God as the Great Shepherd who readily provides for His “sheep.” David regards himself as a sheep who is in need of sustenance, protection, provision, and strength.  1  My Shepherd is the LORD in heaven. And I lack absolutely nothing. 2  He generously provides spiritual counsel and guidance for me from day to day. […]

“THE HEAVENS DECLARE THE GLORY OF GOD!”

“The heavens declare the glory of God; and the skies proclaim the work of His hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge” (Psalm 19:1,2). Thus begins this beautiful declaration of Psalm 19 by King David that displays the universe as a revelation of the greatness, power, wisdom, and Deity of Almighty God.  The following is an adaptation  and not the actual Psalm 19:1-14 we read of in the holy Scriptures. “The heavens announce the glory of God, and the firmament proclaims His creativity. And by looking up into the heavens we can know for certain there is […]

The Self-Existent God

Christians are under constant attack for their faith in Almighty God. God Himself is also under attack by the very people He created.  There are those who doubt God’s existence and the fact that He created the universe.  The Bible says, “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth” (Genesis 1:1).  The Bible also says this about the Lord Jesus Christ: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him and without Him was anything made that was made” […]
