Accepted in Christ

What does it mean to be “accepted in Christ?” Those of us who have accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior have much to rejoice about. As believers, we belong to the Lord Jesus Christ, who is the King of kings and Lord of lords. We are on our way to heaven where Jesus is now seated at God’s right hand after He shed His blood and died for our sins. He was raised from the dead, and at the appointed time he ascended to His Father.  Accepted in Christ means we are “eternally secured” in Him. Has He […]

Christ — The Christian’s Life

Accepting Jesus Christ as Savior is not just attending Church on Sundays, or becoming a member of the church, or getting to go to heaven, and having some thoughts about religion. It’s much, much more than that. Coming to know Jesus Christ as one’s Savior is only the beginning of the Christian life. One is saved to become a disciple of Christ. This means having a personal relationship with Christ each and everyday. The Bible says, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has past away; behold the new has come” (2 Corinthians 5:17). […]

Why bother going to church?

Church attendance can be a very controversial subject because people attend or don’t attend church for a variety of reasons—personally and otherwise. Some are persuaded that by watching a live or recorded radio or TV broadcast of a Church service is sufficient to meet their spiritual needs. Nothing could be further from the truth. However, people who are homebound or otherwise incapacitated, God knows and understands each situation.  We can worship anywhere or any time we choose. However, there is such an awe, a beauty, a wonderful and inspiring experience of going to Church which nothing can replace. In doing […]

“Holy Bible is God’s Holy Word!”

The Bible, also referred to as the Holy Bible, The Word of God, or the Scriptures, was written by some forty earthly authors, spanning a period of about fifteen hundred years.  God Almighty is the Divine author and of whom the Bible declares, “All scripture is breathed out by God and is profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good word” (2 Timothy 3:16-17). Survey after survey reveal that the Bible is the world’s most widely circulated book, and which has been translated in approximately […]

The Power of the Tongue

Many of us have said things we regret having said. It is impossible to recall the spoken word. We can be sorry and apologize to those we offend as a result. However, we cannot erase or delete the fact that we said it. God, our Creator, gave us two ears and one mouth. The Bible says, “Let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger.” (James 1:19). We express ourselves by talking and our listeners can form opinions about us as well. Our speech can also change the course of our lives. The Bible has much to say […]

“What it means to Honor God”

It is incumbent on all believers in the Lord Jesus Christ to honor God.  God has specifically stated “Those who honor Me, I will honor, and those who despise Me shall be lightly esteemed” (1 Samuel 2:30).  Honor means to “recognize with high respect, admiration and distinction.” And our Sovereign God is absolutely worthy of our honor.   A Christian cannot live independent of the Lord by failing to honor Him.  The apostle Paul writes: “Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you […]

“The Great High Priest”

One of the many great things about our relationship with God is that “we have a Great High Priest who has ascended into heaven,  Jesus, the Son of God” (Hebrews 4:14).  Yes, indeed, our Great High Priest is none other than the Lord Jesus Christ, God’s only begotten Son who is far superior to all earthly priests.  Even Aaron who, on the Day of Atonement, entered the Holy of Holies once a year and sprinkled blood to atone, first for his own sins, and those of the people. It is most noteworthy that we are exhorted to “Consider the Apostle and High […]

“Contend for the Faith!”

At the conclusion of his short epistle — the second to last book in the New Testament, Jude gives us one of the noble and marvelous benedictions in the Scriptures, which reads, “Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling and present you blameless before the presence of His glory with great joy, to the only God, our Savior, be glory, majesty, dominion, and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen” (Jude 24,25).   God is able to keep us from stumbling in this ungodly, immoral, and sinful world.   He is also able to present us faultlessly […]

The Pre-existence of Jesus Christ

Does the Bible mention that the Lord Jesus Christ actually existed before His human birth? And, is there sufficient evidence in both the Old and New Testaments to support this view? Let’s read on. The fourth Gospel clearly states, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him was not made anything made that was made. And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us” (John 1:1-3,14).  Doesn’t this sound very familiar with the “beginning of […]

“The Second Advent of Jesus Christ”

One of the greatest events in human history, yet to take place, is the return or “second advent” of the Lord Jesus Christ — the hope and expectation of past and present “born again” believers. Dr. Charles Stanley wrote: “The certain return of Christ should fill believers with unquenchable hope and help them to find strength when they come under attack for their faith” (Life Principles Bible, pg. 1445).  It is very important that Christians understand the various aspects of our Lord’s return, especially in these “last days.” We see the signs of the times all around. Preaching the doctrines […]

“In the Beginning, God“

“In the beginning, God” . . . and what follows are unique, authoritative, and profound words and their exclusive meanings. Here is the context.   ”In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and void; and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. And God saw that the light was good. And God separated the light from the darkness. God called the light Day and the darkness He called Night. And there […]

“Self-control”

In our work-a-day, topsy-turvy, “modern-day” world, the tendency by some is to “blow up” by getting excessively angry without taking a moment to consider that our words and actions can have devastating consequences. Unsuppressed anger influences the way we think and act. Words and actions can cause a lifetime of pain, grief, and sorrow. The Bible teaches, “Whoever is slow to anger is better than the mighty and he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city” (Proverbs 16:32).  The key is being “slow to anger,” which means to stop, think, and exercise wisdom before making a decision. This occurs […]

The Majesty of God

The majesty of God is one of many great attributes of God’s essential being.  There aught to be a heartfelt recognition of this in Christian living. How else can our Sovereign God be preeminent and get the honor and glory He is worthy of?  Majesty is defined as “sovereign power, authority or dignity.” (Merriam-Webster dictionary.  People, in general, have various concepts of God. The Bible tells us everything about God that we need to know about Him.  Someone rightly expressed that “Christian worship rises or falls on our concept of God.”   Christians worship God with love, reverence, adoration, honor, and respect.  When we think […]
