Who is Jesus Christ?

The Bible presents the vicarious sacrifice of the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who suffered, bled, and died on a Roman Cross for sins of mankind. “Who has believed what he has heard from us? And to whom has the arm of the LORD been revealed? For he grew up before him like a young plant, and like a root out of dry ground; he had no form or majesty that we should look at him, and no beauty that we should desire him. He was despised and rejected by men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with […]

“Born Again” for sure!

Have you been born again? This is a most important question anyone is asked, and requires a specific yes or no answer. The necessity to be born again is a result of the incapacity of the natural person (the way we were born) to enter the kingdom of God. It doesn’t matter how  morally upright a person may be, that person is absolutely helpless and powerless to either enter God’s heaven or to please God in any way.  To be born again doesn’t mean reformation of the old corrupt nature every human being is born with. The Bible says, “Behold I was brought forth […]

“Wait, I say, on the LORD!”

One of the disciplines in living the Christian is waiting on the Lord. Waiting on the Lord means allowing Him to act and provide answers to our prayers. It requires patience, hope, courage, and trust in the God of the Scriptures. It is also a test of our obedience, faith, and confidence in Almighty God. Patience is an essential component of Christian living. The writer to the Hebrews exhorts believers: “For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God, you may receive what is promised” (Hebrews 10:36). The KJV of the Bible uses patience instead of endurance.  […]

Does God Exist?

God does exist. The evidence of God’s existence is all around us. The Bible says this about God. “And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who seek him” (Hebrews 11:6). Faith believes that God exists. “The essence of faith consists in believing and receiving what God has revealed, and may be defined as that trust in the God of the Scriptures. And in Jesus Christ whom He has sent, which receives Him as Lord and Savior and impels to loving obedience and good […]

Prayer — A Mighty Force

Prayer is essentially the act of communication with Almighty God. It is God’s children’s way of communicating our thoughts, concerns, needs, and desires to our heavenly Father. Prayer also means spending time with God, and thereby deepening our relationship with Him. It is important to keep in mind that prayer does not in any way change God’s will or purposes.  God has declared “For I the LORD do not change” (Malachi 3:6). Prayers are answered in accordance with God’s will. The Lord Jesus, who is the Christian’s greatest example, submitted to God’s will. While in Gethsemane, Jesus prayed to His Father, “Not my will, […]

Keep On Waiting!

Have you ever prayed about a situation, and you feel it’s taking too long before God answers your prayers? Take heart, God’s timing is for our good. He knows the future, we don’t.  Generally, people just don’t like to wait on anything. Many want things to happen  strictly on their terms. However, waiting and patience are important disciplines of prayer activity. Waiting requires faith, patience, understanding, and hope. Believers who pray and wait on God will surely reap rewards for their patience. Some prayers appear to be answered more quickly than others. Why? Only our sovereign God knows the reasons. We […]

“I Am Your God!”

Here is a portion of God’s Word that has been a blessing, encouragement, and inspiration to Christians for many years. It is a very strong statement of what Almighty God is able to do. At the very beginning of the biblical text, it appears that God is putting our minds at ease. “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand” (Isaiah 41:10). This is a ‘He-and-me’ scripture.’  Firstly, Fear not, for I am with you. As Christians, we have […]

The Sovereignty of God Almighty

The Bible declares “God works all things according to the counsel of His will” (Ephesians 1:11). This means God Almighty has the supreme authority and absolute power over the universe which He created. No one else has that authority. Recently there was a threat or feeling that Russia would most likely invade the country of Ukraine. Although there were ongoing denials and assurances by Russia that it had no intent in doing so, even in the midst of a massive build up of Russian forces and equipment along its border with Ukraine. Many of us were earnestly praying that God would not […]

“But by the Grace of God”

“But by the grace of God I am what I am.” (1 Corinthians 15:10). The Apostle Paul made this statement and he certainly knew exactly what he was talking about. Paul said of himself “For I am the least of the apostles, unworthy to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God.” (1 Corinthians 15:9). Realizing his unworthiness because of what he had done, he declared: “But by the grace of God I am what I am.” On another occasion he said, “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the foremost.” (1 Timothy 1:15). Paul was being very […]

Why Salvation?

In a biblical sense, salvation means deliverance from the control of sin and its consequences in a person’s life. Salvation is a result of accepting Jesus Christ as one’s personal Lord and Savior. Salvation is by God’s grace alone, through faith alone, and in Christ alone.  The Scripture teaches “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast” (Ephesians 2:8,9). “Salvation is the great inclusive word of the Gospel, gathering into itself all the redemptive acts and processes: as justification, redemption, […]
