Redeemed by Jesus Christ

The word redemption has a profound meaning in the Christian community. It means “to buy back,” or to deliver by paying a price.”  The apostle Paul makes it known: “I am of the flesh, sold under sin” (Romans 7:14). Here, man is viewed as a slave and under the sentence of death. The Scripture says. “For the wages of sin is death” (Romans 6:23). And also, “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). Being “sold under sin” required a redeemer “to buy back the slave” and prevent further sale.  The Lord Jesus Christ is the Redeemer whose redemptive work on the Cross, has removed […]

“Drawing Near”

The Christian life is the life of faith. We put our personal trust in Jesus Christ and His redemptive work on the Cross for our sins; thereby committing our lives to Him who loved us and gave Himself for us. The Scripture says, “Without faith it is impossible to please him [God], for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him” (Hebrews 11:6). Faith is the principal thing. We draw near to God through prayer and worship. Therefore we have this divine invitation: “Let us draw near with a true heart in full […]

“Give God the Glory”

Glory means honor, worship, praise, adoration, and thanksgiving to God. The word glory is used very often in the Scriptures. The apostle Paul exhorts Christians “Whatever you do, do all to the glory of God” (1 Corinthians 10:31). And this is absolutely true because God, and He alone, is deserving or worthy of our worship, thanksgiving and adoration. Our faith in God results in glory to God. God must be given a place of honor and exaltation in our hearts and lives. Christians are to love the Lord with our heart, soul, and mind. And one of the great reasons is that […]

The importance of integrity

The word “integrity” means the quality of being honest, upright, and having strong moral principles and values. It has been said “you either have integrity or you don’t.” Integrity has much to do with the quality of a person’s character. A person with integrity is trustworthy and accountable. King David said, “May integrity and uprightness preserve me” (Psalm 25:21). And this should be mankind’s objective. The Bible says, “God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them” (Genesis 1:27). However, God did not create man as a perfect human being. The only […]

Blessed are the Meek

In His sermon on the Mount (the Beatitudes,) the Lord Jesus Christ said, “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth” (Matthew 5:5).  Who are the meek? The meek are those who are blessed, filled with humility and happy under all circumstances. Being humble and gentle towards others. Having power under control. Jesus was meek. He said. “Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am meek and lowly in heart, and you shall find rest for your souls“ (Matthew 11:29).  Moses was also meek. Numbers 12:3 says, “Now the man Moses was very meek, more than all people who […]

Equipped For Godly Living

When we trusted the Lord Jesus Christ as our personal Savior, we were not left to go our way and live the Christian life on our own. God has a plan for your life and my life.  At the point of conversion, the believer’s body becomes a temple of God’s Holy Spirit. The Bible says, “Your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God. You are not your own, for you were bought with a price, so glory God in your body” (1 Corinthians 6:19,20). The Christian is the purchased possession of God. “The […]

An Invitation from God

God’s compassion and love is reflected in His timely invitation to all mankind. Firstly, God calls on Israel to return, and then to the Gentile nations to have their spiritual needs met.                           “Come, everyone who thirsts, come to the waters;         and he who has no money, come, buy and eat!  Come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.         Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread,  and your labor for that which does not satisfy?         Listen […]

GRATITUDE

Gratitude is a beautiful word because of what it means and does. Generally, gratitude means to express thankfulness and appreciation for an act of kindness. It means the recognition of the goodness of a gift and the thoughtfulness and kindness of the giver of that gift,  Gratitude also means not taking things for granted. Rather, it helps us to maintain healthy relationships and preserves good friendships. For Christians, gratitude can be considered a “spiritual discipline,” meaning that we are to be grateful to God not only for life itself and the blessings thereof. But also for the “lean” and uncertain […]

Why Christmas?

Traditionally, Christmas Day is the 25th of December. Christians around the world celebrate this day as the birth of Jesus Christ. The Bible gives us the conception and birth of Jesus as follows: “Now the birth of Jesus Christ took place in this way. When his mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child from the Holy Spirit. And her husband Joseph, being a just man and unwilling to put her to shame, resolved to divorce her quietly. But as he considered these things, behold, an angel of the Lord […]
