Suffer As A Christian!

“Yet if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in that name.” (1 Peter 4:16).  Absolutely no doubt, the Lord Jesus Christ  suffered. Jesus is the Christian’s greatest example since He suffered immensely. Shouldn’t we also suffer? Yes. According to the text suffering is a God-glorifying experience and nothing to be ashamed of. When the apostles were beaten and commanded not to speak in the name of Jesus, the Scripture says, “they left the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer dishonor for the name.” (Acts 5:41,42). The apostles were even more determined […]

Jesus Makes The Difference

In his letter to the Corinthian Christians, the apostle Paul makes a statement that every Christian should carefully note and put in practice. He writes, “All things are lawful for me,” but not all things are helpful. “All things are lawful for me,” but I will not be dominated by anything.” (1 Corinthians 6:12).  Taken in context, Paul tells the Corinthians “do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God.” (1 Corinthians 6:9). And he lists the sinful behaviors and practices of those who do not know Jesus Christ as their Savior with special reference to the “sexually immoral,”  (Vs. 9 […]

Why Be A Christian?

Consider the evil, wickedness, immorality, corruption, lawlessness, hatred, and injustice in the world. And things will not get better. This is exactly what has happened since Adam, the first man God created sinned. The Bible says, “Just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned.” (Romans 5:12).  As a result, “Evil people and impostors will go on from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived.” (2 Timothy 3:13). No one should be surprised. Jesus said, “Many will fall away and betray one another and hate one another. And many false […]

Have You Been Sealed?

Sealed, as a verb, is the past tense of the word ‘seal.’ A seal is required to authenticate and make contracts legally binding between two or more parties. The seal is affixed by corporations and notaries, indicating the document is validly executed and witnessed. The seal also means ownership, transaction is complete, secured, and without reversal. In his letter to the Christians at Ephesus, the apostle Paul writes, “In him [Christ] you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit.” (Ephesians 1:13).  The Holy Spirit is a divine […]

The futility of riches

Is money really “the root of all evil?” as people have said.  Absolutely not! Money is not the root of all evil. it is the love  of it. Without exception we all need money to live. Everyone needs money to purchase basic things such as food, clothing, somewhere to live, and for other necessities for living. With this in mind, how can money be considered “evil?”  A great deal of good has been accomplished because of money. Many charitable organizations reach out to people who are in need (some destitute) of financial assistance. Wealthy people have donated huge sums of money to charitable […]

Redemption

Redemption is one of many beautiful and meaningful words in the holy Scriptures. The word Redemption means to deliver by paying a price. Man is considered a slave because he is “of the flesh, sold under sin.” (Romans 7:14). And is subject to death. “For the wages of sin is death.” (Romans 6:23).  It was therefore necessary for one to pay the price for man’s deliverance from sin. The Lord Jesus Christ was the One who came into the world as man’s Redeemer and paid the full price  through His shed blood and death on the Cross.  Redemption was God’s exclusive undertaking and He who  would provide […]

Having the right attitude

Believe it or not, attitude is everything. Our attitude represents the way we think or feel about a certain situation or a person. Of course there are good attitudes and there are bad attitudes. Good attitudes are considered “positive,” and bad attitudes are regarded as “negative.” A person with a positive attitude endeavors to look for, and identify, the good in others and various situations even when at first it doesn’t appear that way. Having a positive attitude helps to reduce stress and makes a person hopeful about the outcome of various situations. Much has been written on the subject […]

Drawing Near

The writer of the letter to the Hebrews exhorts and encourages Christians to draw near to God. “Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the holy places by the blood of Jesus, by the new and living way that he opened for us through the curtain, that is, through his flesh, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.” (Hebrews 10:19-22). Because of what the Lord Jesus Christ […]

He Is Not Here . . .

“But the angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. “He is not here, for he has risen, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay.” (Matthew 28:5,6). In the early hours of that memorable Sunday morning, Mary Magdalene and Mary (the mother of James) went to visit the tomb where Jesus Christ was buried to anoint His body with spices. When they arrived at the tomb they noticed the very large stone which was placed at the entrance had been rolled back. Upon entering the tomb, the […]

Palm Sunday

Palm Sunday is a very significant day in the Christian community. Palm Sunday marks the “triumphal entry” of the Lord Jesus Christ into Jerusalem. It is also the traditional beginning of “Holy Week,” which is most sacred for Christians around the world as they commemorate the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.         As Jesus enters the city of Jerusalem, the Scripture says, “The next day the large crowd that had come to the feast heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem. So they took branches of palm trees and went out to meet him, crying out, “Hosanna! Blessed is […]
