Godliness is mentioned a few times in the New Testament. And to think of it, we must conclude that the Holy Scriptures are about godliness. The Bible is a “God-book.” Godliness means being entirely devoted to God; living a disciplined God-centered, morally upright lifestyle in total obedience and conformity to His Word. Anything that falls short of God’s glory is sin. Sin is lawlessness. God declares, “Everyone who makes a practice of sinning also practices lawlessness; sin is lawlessness” (1 John 3:4). As a “born again” believer in the Lord Jesus Christ for many years, and a member of the Christian community, I am shocked, saddened, and appalled at what is happening today in the Christian community. Never before has one seen such rampant dishonesty, avarice, excess, greed, and corruption in the Church of Jesus Christ “which He purchased with His own blood” (Acts 20:28). What is “conscience?” The dictionary defines conscience as “the inner sense of what is right or wrong in one’s conduct or motive, impelling one toward right action.” Conscience has to do with the mind and inner most thoughts of a person.
