Complete and Wonderful Salvation

Each and every Christian who trusted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, has a complete and wonderful salvation because Jesus Christ’s atoning work on the cross is done. Absolutely nothing needs to be added and nothing needs to be taking away. The Bible says:“There no longer remains a sacrifice for sins” (Hebrews 10:26). Also “For the death He died He died to sin, once for all, but the life He lives He lives to God” (Romans 6:10). When Christ died on the cross, He secured eternal salvation for us. The Bible says “When Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, ”It is finished,” and […]

WHY BE A CHRISTIAN . . . .

A true Christian is a person who has trusted  Jesus Christ as his or her own personal Lord and Savior, because of what He did on the cross. Jesus paid the penalty for the sins of mankind through His shed blood and death. This was the way God chose to reconcile sinful man to Himself. The Bible declares, “All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned —every one—to his own way; and the LORD has laid on [Jesus] the iniquity of us all” (Isaiah 53:6). From the quoted text, we can clearly see that without exception, humanity, like lost sheep, have […]

“Thus says the LORD!”

Having been in church leadership for over three decades, I am most concerned about the type of sermons some church pastors are presenting to their congregations. Is “Thus says the LORD?” too old-fashioned or out-dated to be relevant today?  Nowadays, the Biblical text seems to be changed to read, “Thus says the man.” Without a doubt, some churches would rather put the  emphasis on wealth, worldly happiness, and “feel-good-about-yourself” sermons.  The things and practices of the world are brought into the church and adopted as essential parts of the sermons. Remember the old commercial, “if it’s out there, it’s in here?” ’Out […]

“The Apostles’ Creed”

“I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried; He descended into hell. The third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From there He will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian Church, the communion of […]

How is your thinking?

The world in which we live is most ungodly, corrupt, dishonest, immoral, wicked, and evil. some right is wrong and wrong is right. And truth is scarce. For some people right is wrong and wrong is right. How then should Christians think and act in this type of environment? The Bible says, “For as [man] thinks in his heart, so is he” (Proverbs 23:7 KJV). Living the Christian life can be a challenge or even a struggle these days. King David prayed asking God: “Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me” (Psalm 51:10 NIV). David also […]

A SPECIAL TRIBUTE TO OUR MOTHERS

There is something very special about mothers that attracts our love, respect, and admiration. First, we should always thank God for mothers because they are of a very ‘special kind’ in the world. We can reflect on their love, thoughtfulness, kindness, and understanding; not only on Mother’s Day, but at all times. They brought us into the world, raised us, fed us, trained us, advised us, protected us, and did for us at times what we were unable to do for ourselves. The following is a Biblical tribute to mothers that is noteworthy:“She looks well to the ways of her household and does […]

Thanksgiving and Praise!

Psalm 100 is a beautiful Psalm with only 5 short verses that can be read in half a minute. This is a Psalm of joyful praise, gladness and thanksgiving. Psalm 100 is a call to all people to thankfully and joyfully worship the Sovereign God of all the earth He created.  [1] Make a joyful noise to the LORD, all the earth! [2] Serve the LORD with gladness! Come into His presence with singing! [3] Know that the LORD, He is God! It is He who made us, and we are His; we are His people, and the sheep of His pasture. [4] Enter His gates with […]

God’s Name is uniquely holy!

“For thus says the One who is high and lifted up, who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy: I dwell in the high and holy place, and also with him who is of a contrite and lowly spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly, and revive the heart of the contrite” (Isaiah 57:15).  Thus says God’s Holy Word. How dare anyone be referred to as “Holy.” Furthermore, no mortal being dwells “in the high and holy place,” which is God’s abode. “Yet the Most High does not dwell in houses made by hands, as the prophet says, Heaven is my throne and the […]

“Death, Burial, Resurrection”

In his letter to the Corinthians, the Apostle Paul wrote: “For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that He was buried, that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures” (1 Corinthians 15:3,4 NIV).  Paul regarded his message as of first importance. These historical facts of Jesus Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection are absolutely fundamental to the Christian faith. Paul let it be known that these facts are not according to him, but rather according to God’s Word; hence he adds according to the Scriptures. The […]
