Taking A Stand

We live in a world of rampant ungodliness and the Bible tells it exactly as it is. In his second letter to Timothy, the Apostle Paul talks about the threatening and dangerous conditions existing in the present age we are living. He writes, “But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the appearance […]

The God Book

What is “The God Book?” The God Book is The Holy Bible—a ‘good’ Book. The Bible is often referred to as God’s Word, the Scriptures, the Holy Scriptures, or the Canon of Scripture. The dictionary describes the Bible as “the Holy Book of Christians consisting of the Old and New Testaments” The Bible originated with God as the divine Author. We read, “All scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work” (2 Timothy 3:16,17).  And God, being the […]

Utterly Unworthy?

The word “unworthy” generally means undeserving of attention, respect, support, or consideration. Are you feeling utterly unworthy in any way? Do you feel defeated? Are you sinking to the depths of woe? Do you feel that God has abandon you? Have you ever felt to throw up your hands in despair? Are you feeling depressed or dispirited? Maybe one or more of these questions apply to you or someone you know. To be truthful, absolutely no one is worthy. However, we can become worthy through what the Lord Jesus Christ accomplished for us on the Cross. “For our sake He […]

Is your faith showing?

How is your faith? Has it found a “resting place?” Are you willing to share your faith? Generally, faith is “complete confidence and trust in a person or thing.” However, for a Christian faith is “strong belief and confidence” in God Almighty—the God of the Holy Scriptures. The Bible gives us the best explanation of faith: “Faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. For by it the people of old received their commendation. By faith we understand that the universe was created by the Word of God, so that what is seen was […]

Let Us Visit The Cross

Come with me to the Cross of Calvary where on that Cross, God in His infinite wondrous love and mercy provided His Son Jesus Christ as the one and only perfect sacrifice for sin died. He died that you and I can have eternal life by believing in Him. The Bible says, “Knowing that you were redeemed from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot. He was foreknown before the foundation of the world but […]

Let Us Do Good!

The “Golden Rule” says, “So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them” (Matthew 7:12). Commonly referred to as the “Golden Rule” is a Biblical principle and part of Jesus’ “Sermon on the Mount.” It should be noted that the words Golden Rule are not in the Bible. It is believed that many people live by this principle with a moral obligation and duty to do so. The Christian’s endeavor must always be to do good to others and for others.  The apostle Paul stated in his letter to the Galatian Church, “Let us not […]

The Call to Prayer

How diligent are you in prayer? Is prayer a reality with you? When last have you really prayed? These are questions that some of us need to ask ourselves. It has been said that Prayer is one of the most neglected duties of some Christians. The English poet Alfred Lord Tennyson said, “Pray for my soul. More things are wrought by prayer than this world dreams of.” Prayer is “drawing near to God” and James writes, “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you” (James 4:8). Prayer means having confidence in the God to whom you pray. This […]

The Pre-eminence of Christ

The theme of the Apostle Paul’s letter to the Colossian Church is “the pre-eminence of the Lord Jesus Christ.” The word pre-eminence means “surpassing all others” That is, superiority. Paul identifies  seven characteristics of Christ to substantiate His pre-eminence, which he identifies and lists in Colossians 1:15-20. Also, let’s keep in mind that Christ is the Head of the Body—The Church, where all believers are members. Paul states: “For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one Body . . . For the body does not consist of one member, but many” (1 Corinthians 12:13,14). This speaks for the Church […]

Are You A Sheep?

All born-again believers in the Lord Jesus Christ are “sheep.”  In His reference to believers, Jesus said: “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. And I give them eternal life and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand. I and the Father are one” (John 10:27-30). Obviously, Jesus was not referring to sheep, as the animal. Jesus also referred to Himself as “the […]

Memo to Self

Have you ever thought about writing a memo to yourself? Not just any memo but a spiritually inspired memo to check upon yourself to ascertain how well you are running the Christian race. In his letter to the Church at Corinth, the Apostle Paul writes, “Examine yourselves, to see whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Or do you not realize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless indeed you fail to meet the test” (2 Corinthians 13:5). The content of this letter was applicable to the Church then in Paul’s day as it is also applicable […]
