The Resurrection of Jesus Christ

Easter is the most significant event of the Christian Church as it commemorates the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ from the dead.  Christians around the world rejoice with thanksgiving to Almighty God for the death, burial, and resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. This was the purpose for which Jesus came into the world.  The apostle Paul states: “For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received; that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that He was buried, that He was raised on the third day in accordance with the […]

“The Mind Of Christ”

Christians have the “mind of Christ.” The Bible says: “For who has understood the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him. But we have the mind of Christ” (1 Corinthians 2:16). What exactly is the mind of Christ? The Bible gives the answer. In his letter to the church art Philippi, the apostle Paul wrote: ”Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ” (Philippians 2:5). We should keep in mind that salvation unites us with the Lord Jesus Christ and His mind. No wonder Paul could declare: “I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but […]

The 150th Psalm

The 150th psalm is a psalm of praise to the Sovereign God who is  enthroned in heaven. The word ‘praise’ means to express admiration, approval, or heartfelt gratitude to someone. The theme of the last five psalms is about “Praise to God.” All five psalms begin and end with these words “Praise the LORD.”  Praise represents our commitment, dedication and devotion to Almighty God. Some of us will recall the opening line of a popular old hymn that reads, “Praise to the Lord, the King of creation. O my soul praise Him, for He is thy health and salvation. “ God is […]

“What is Love?”

To ask different people “What is love” may produce as many different answers. The dictionary gives this definition of love: “an intense feeling of deep affection.” And then it further defines affection as ”a gentle feeling of fondness or liking.”  But what does the Bible say about love? The Bible explains love this way: “Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked; thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all […]

“The Joy of the LORD is your Strength”

“The joy of the LORD is your strength” (Nehemiah 8:10). This meaningful and beautiful text is applicable to all believers in the Lord Jesus Christ. One of the great reasons in knowing Christ as Savior and Lord of our lives is experiencing joy in living the Christian life from day to day; no matter what the circumstance may be. Here is the full text: Nehemiah told the people: “Go your way. Eat the fat and drink sweet wine and send portions to anyone who has nothing ready, for this day is holy to our Lord. And do not be grieved, for the joy […]

“The True Meaning of Love”

The dictionary describes love as “an intense feeling of deep affection.” Love is a word that is widely used in a variety of ways. For example, greeting others “Hi love, how are you?” Or, closing a letter: “take care, lots of love.” Or, “so and so was the love of his life.” To identify a few instances. Asking different people their meaning of love would result in mostly different responses. Perhaps the reason is just how the individual interprets or thinks about love. On Valentine’s Day, which is celebrated annually on February 14, people express their feelings about love in several different […]

Sin — what it is, and what it does

The dictionary describes sin as an “immoral act considered to be a transgression against divine law.” God’s Word— the Bible — says this about sin. “Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness” (1 John 3:4 NKJV ). Sin is transgression — an overstepping of the law;  the divine boundary between good and evil. Sin also violates the revealed will and purposes of Almighty God. William MacDonald makes this commentary: “Sin is lawlessness. It is insubordination to God, wanting one’s own way, and refusing to acknowledge the Lord as rightful Sovereign. In essence it is placing ones own will above the will of […]

Should Christians Be Humble?

Christians should definitely be humble people. God’s Word addresses the need for Christians to be humble in several places. If we are truly followers of Jesus Christ, then we must be humble before God and man. God requires humility of us as He has stated in His Word. “He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God” (Micah 6:8).  Christ is the Christian’s greatest example of humility.  The Bible says, Christ “humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point […]

“The Christian’s God”

The Lord Jesus says, “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven” (Matthew 7:21). Dr Charles Stanley makes an insightful commentary on this text: “The question that needs to be addressed here is; “What is the will of the Father?” Faith and belief in His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, are the only answers. Willing and eager obedience is the hallmark of someone who has truly come to faith in Christ. They obey not because they want to earn God’s favor, but because […]

“Another New Year!”

Really? How can it be a new year. Doesn’t it have 12 months, 52 weeks, 365 days, and night follows day like all previous years? Yes! So, it’s not really a new year; some one might argue.  All that is absolutely true. The main difference is numerical. The previous year was 2023 and the new year is 2024. The fact remains, it is indeed a new year because we haven’t lived in it before. “Another year has cast its shadow against the backdrop of eternity, and the firm had of God has written another chapter in man’s world. Like knots in a sailor’s […]
