“It Is Finished”

“It is finished.” What is finished? “It is finished” is the English translation of the Greek word “Tetelestai.” Tetelestai was one of the second-to-last of the seven last words (or cries) uttered by the Lord Jesus Christ just before He died on the Cross.  The Bible records for us the order of events at the crucifixion of the Lord Jesus Christ. And we read in part that “After this, Jesus, knowing that all was now finished, said (to fulfill the scripture), “I thirst.” A jar full of sour wine stood there, so they put a sponge full of the sour wine on a hyssop branch and held […]

Crucified with Christ

“I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me”(Galatians 2:20). This was the apostle Paul’s resolve. In it we can clearly see his unreserved commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ “who loved me and gave himself for me.” Would to God, as Christians, we all had this text as a genuine personal witness and testimony to what Jesus Christ means to us. “Christ . . . […]

Christianity: A “cash cow?”

As a “born again” believer in the Lord Jesus Christ for many years, and a member of the Christian community, I am shocked, saddened, and appalled at what is happening today in the Christian community. Never before has one seen such rampant dishonesty, avarice, excess, greed, and corruption in the Church of Jesus Christ “which He purchased with His own blood” (Acts 20:28). The Church is not “owned” by the pastor.  The Church is the “purchased possession” of Jesus Christ, who told Peter “on this rock I will build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it” (Matthew 16:18). Not an […]

Conscience

What is “conscience?” The dictionary defines conscience as “the inner sense of what is right or wrong in one’s conduct or motive, impelling one toward right action.” Conscience has to do with the mind and inner most thoughts of a person. Essentially, conscience enables a person to discern right from wrong, and good from evil. “Our conscience is a divine alarm system,” writes Dr Charles Stanley, “that protects us from making wrong decisions. It’s a gift from God that enables us to distinguish between what is right and wrong—between what’s good and best in our lives” (The Charles F Stanley Life Principles Bible p. […]

My Testimony

It gives me much joy and delight to share my testimony through the medium of this blog. I am most grateful to the God I now worship and serve that indeed I am sinner “saved by grace.” I was born to Christian parents and raised in a godly home in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.” My father was a pastor in the local community Church.  In our home, my father “conducted” family devotions/prayers every (early) morning—Sunday to Saturday. We would each read a verse of Scripture after which my father would explain. And then we would kneel around the bed […]

“God, Prayer, and You”

Heaven is God’s abode and Christians live on earth, which is a very great distance from heaven. And yet, we can pray to God and our prayers are always heard and answered. How can this be, one may ask. In human terms, is it possible? Of course, it definitely is. God created prayer to be an essential factor in the Christian’s life and service. Prayer is God’s means of communication with Himself. Therefore, there can be absolutely no distance in prayer as far as God is concerned.  Throughout human history, millions have proven and testified to the reality and significance […]

“I have believed!”

We are living a day and age of immorality, rebellion, and apostasy. The term apostasy is from the greek word ‘apostasia’, meaning abandonment, renunciation, or departure. In the spiritual application, apostasy is rebellion or a falling away from the Christian faith. Sadly, some Christians have contributed to this state of affairs by the abandonment of their faith. “You were running well. Who hindered you from obeying the truth. This persuasion is not from him who calls you” (Galatians 5:7,8). If we ever get to the stage where we once were running well (past tense), but no longer,  it means ‘continuity’ is lacking. Something has happened. In […]

Are you listening?

“Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel. Whenever you hear a word from my mouth, you shall give them warning from me” (Ezekiel 3:17). This biblical statement from God to Ezekiel, the priest, is as true today as it was when God said it. Ezekiel, who wrote the twenty-sixth book of the Old Testament, was a man of “stern integrity and strong purpose completely devoted to God. In chapter 3 of his prophecy, we see him as “God’s watchman.” Christians are God’s watchmen, or representatives, or ambassadors in a sin defiled world until the Lord Jesus returns.  Our […]

“God Alone . . . “

The Reformers of the Protestant Reformation of the 16th century gave the Christian community “Five Solas” that are most essential to Christianity in the “Church age.” The word “sola” is the Latin for our english word “alone.” These five solas are as follows: Sola Scriptura meaning “Scripture alone” Sola Fide meaning “faith alone” Sola Gratia meaning “grace alone” Solus Christus meaning “Christ alone” Soli Deo Gloria meaning “to Glory of God alone” “Scripture alone” refers to the Holy Scripture or Holy Bible of sixty-six books that is divided into Old Testament and New Testament. All Scripture is “God-breathed” and chosen by God to communicate with mankind. God alone appointed […]

Are you secure?

When the Lord Jesus Christ saves people, it is not just for the moment. Rather, it is with an “eternal purpose” in view. Christians are saved for time and for eternity. And no one can lose his or her salvation, though some may think otherwise. There is ample proof in the Scriptures to address the subject.  Accepting Jesus Christ as Savior begins the Christian life. The Bible says, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come” (2 Corinthians 5:17). Because of a person’s faith in Jesus Christ, that person […]
