“The Vicissitudes of Life”
The word vicissitude is a big word and hardly used, but its meaning is very applicable to life. It simply means a change in circumstances or fortune; typically one that is unwelcome or unpleasant.” Another explanation is “changes that take place at various times in the life of an individual including situations when conditions become worse.” We have also heard of life’s “ups and downs,” which means a succession of both good and bad experiences.
