Who is Jesus Christ?

The Bible presents the vicarious sacrifice of the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who suffered, bled, and died on a Roman Cross for sins of mankind.

“Who has believed what he has heard from us? And to whom has the arm of the LORD been revealed?
For he grew up before him like a young plant, and like a root out of dry ground; he had no form or majesty that we should look at him, and no beauty that we should desire him.
He was despised and rejected by men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief; and as one from whom men hide their faces he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
Surely he has born our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted.
But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him, was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed.
All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned—every one—to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us al.
He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth; like a lamb that is led to the slaughter, and like a sheep that before its shearers is silent, so he opened not his mouth”
(Isaiah 53:1-7).

The prophet Isaiah predicts the affliction and intense suffering of the Son of God that would actually precede His atoning death on the Cross for the sins of mankind. The report says all we like sheep have gone astray and turned every one to his own way.  The coming Savior of mankind would be despised and rejected; even smitten and afflicted by God, the Father, who would lay all our iniquities on Him, so that our guilt would be taken away, and our sin purged (Isaiah 6:7).

“God placed all my iniquities on Jesus.
And Jesus paid all my indebtedness.
I have believed on Him for eternal life.
To Him be glory and honor forever.”

The Apostle Paul declares we have now been justified by the blood of Jesus Christ, and shall be saved by Him from the wrath of God. Here is the Biblical text:

“For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly.
For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die
but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God.
For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life.
More than that, we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation”
(Romans 5:6-11).
The text reveals the necessity for the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ on the Cross for sinners to be reconciled to God. No one else has ever been able to fully meet our needs. Hebrews 7:26 says, “For it was indeed fitting that we should have such a high priest, holy, innocent, unstained, separated from sinners, and exalted above the heavens.”
While we were without strength and powerless, Christ intervened just at the right time to go to the Cross and die for our sins. Through Christ’s death, sinful man can now be reconciled to God, since Christ “making peace though the blood of His Cross”(Colossians 1:20).
Believers in Christ have been born again to an ever living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. And also to an imperishable inheritance that is reserved in heaven by God. This indeed is a most wonderful and glorious hope.
A wonderful Savior is Jesus, my Lord.
His blood has atoned for all my sins.
I’m redeemed and from sin set free;
He is mine and I am His for all eternity.
