Each and every Christian who trusted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, has a complete and wonderful salvation because Jesus Christ’s atoning work on the cross is done. Absolutely nothing needs to be added and nothing needs to be taking away.
The Bible says:“There no longer remains a sacrifice for sins” (Hebrews 10:26). Also “For the death He died He died to sin, once for all, but the life He lives He lives to God” (Romans 6:10).
When Christ died on the cross, He secured eternal salvation for us. The Bible says “When Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, ”It is finished,” and He bowed His head and gave up His spirit” (John 19:30); thereby shedding His blood for all mankind.
This means that the death of Christ has conquered sin, death, and the grave. Not only is the believer’s salvation complete and wonderful; it also means salvation prepares the believer to spend eternity with God in heaven.
After His resurrection from the dead, and at the time of His ascension, Jesus entered into God’s holy and divine presence. Hebrews 9:12 says: He “entered once for all into the Holy Place, not by means of the blood of goats and calves but by means of His blood, thus securing an eternal redemption.”
All this was made possible because Christ’s atoning sacrifice on the cross is done—full and complete indeed. Christians should never fail to rejoice and thank God for their salvation.
The Bible says: “For Christ has entered, not into holy places made with hands, which are copies of the true things, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God on our behalf” (Hebrews 9:24).
“Christ did not enter the man-made sanctuary, which was a pattern or figure of the true one,” writes William MacDonald, “but into heaven itself. There He appears in the presence of God for us.”
“It is difficult to understand why anyone would want to leave the reality and go back to the copy; why anyone would leave the great High Priest serving in the heavenly sanctuary to return to the priests of Israel serving in a symbolic tent” (Believer’s Bible Commentary pg. 2187 Thomas Nelson Publishers).
We have a great Savior and a wonderful Lord. Our salvation is free, full and complete. Also, consider this, “So Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin but to save those who are eagerly waiting for Him. (Hebrews 9:28).
One of the greatest events yet to take place is the “second advent” of the Lord Jesus Christ. His first advent was to go to the cross, take our place there, and pay the penalty for our sins.
The Scripture declares, “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). And also, “None is righteous, no, not even one; no one understands; no one seeks for God. “All have turned aside; together they have become worthless; no one does good, no even one” (Romans 3:10-12).
This means that without exception, sin has affected the entire human race ever since Adam, the first human God created. The Scripture says: “Just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned” (Romans 5:12).
Therefore, we are all sinners and in desperate need of God’s forgiveness. God has intervened and provided the only remedy for man’s full and complete forgiveness.
“God so loved the world, that He gave his only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16). “The world here includes all mankind. God does not love man’s sins or the wicked world system, but He loves people and is not willing that any should perish” (William MacDonald).
Salvation is absolutely free, but it is by no means cheap. Jesus paid the penalty for the sins of all humanity by taking our sins upon Himself and dying in our place for our complete forgiveness. Belief in Jesus Christ is the only way by which individuals can receive eternal life and be reconciled to God.
