The God of heaven of whom the Scriptures declare: “It is the LORD who goes before you. He will be with you; He will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed” (Deuteronomy 31:8).
This statement has been proven over and over to be absolutely true. Volumes have been written on the trustworthiness of Almighty God. Christians, and even non-christians, have testified to this divine fact.
Firstly, we must always keep in mind God will always be God, in the sense that He cannot change His mind. He remains absolutely true to His word. What He says He means, and He means what He says. There is no mistake. He keeps His word and fulfills all His promises.
Unlike mortal man, God cannot lie, neither will He ever change His mind. The Bible says: “God is not man that He should lie, or a son of man that He should change his mind. Has He said, and will He not do it? Or has He spoken and will He not fulfill it? (Numbers 23:19). Christians have proven this to be absolutely true over and over again.
God desires that His children have unreserved faith in Him and His divine ability to meet all our spiritual and temporal needs. He says, “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. For I, the LORD your God, hold your right hand; it is I who say to you, “Fear not, I am the one who helps you” (Isaiah 41:10,13).
Notice the wisdom of God that is displayed in this text. Just before His promise, God says, “fear not, for I am with you.” God is preparing our acceptance of His promise. Jesus said: “Have faith in God” (Mark 11:22). Also the Bible tells us: “Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work in us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen” (Ephesians 3:20,21). This means, God is able to exceed what we desire of Him, which will be the greater good for us.
Note, God says these comforting words in the text: “be not dismayed, for I am your God.” God is saying; therefore, don’t become anxious or stressful. Only place your trust in Him..
God continues: “I will strengthen you.” As Christians we need to be ‘strengthened’ in our faith, hope, and belief in the Almighty, that He will never leave us or forsake us, no matter the circumstances or uncertainties of life.
Now here’s what God intends to do. He says: “I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” No Christian can live without God’s help in any way, shape, or form. Christians continue to worship and live for God. But we are still human beings “in the flesh,” which has its limitations.
And God knows what we don’t know, and He sees what we cannot see. Remember, our God is “omnipotent,” that is, He has unlimited power; and is perfectly able to do all things. And to uphold you with His righteous right hand means He will keep us near and dear to Himself.
Here’s a song that has been very encouraging and inspiring over many years. Some of us may have sung it in a church congregational setting also. This song certainly attests to God’s trustworthiness and His concern for those who put their trust and hope in Him.
The song is telling us and reminding us as well that our God is seated on the throne, and He will remember His children. No matter what difficulties may confront us, God will always be there for us. We have His promise and word of assurance.
And He will remember his own;
Though trials may press us
And burdens distress us,
He never will leave us alone
God is still on the throne.
And He will remember His own
His promise is true,
He will not forget you
God is still on the throne.”
