“IT IS ENOUGH!”

What more does a believer want or desire after trusting the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior? Absolutely nothing more! Jesus Christ saves, keeps and satisfies.

The Bible teaches “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come” (2 Corinthians 5:17).

When Christ died on the Cross, He said: “It is finished.” This meant His shed blood was enough to meet man’s spiritual needs in order to be reconciled to God.

The writer to the Hebrews says: “But when Christ had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God. For by a single offering he has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified” (Hebrews 10:12,14). Therefore, Christians can rejoice in a full and complete salvation.

“I need no other argument,
I need no other plea;
It is enough that Jesus died,
And that He died for me.”

The Scripture says: “In [Christ] you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory” (Ephesians 1:13,14).

“Sealed with the promised Holy Spirit.” The Holy Spirit Himself is the seal. A seal is a symbol of a finished transaction (John 19:30), ownership (2 Timothy 2:19), and security (Ephesians 4:30).

Salvation is God’s free gift to mankind. And it is received by God’s grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast” (Ephesians 2:8,9). God saves us by His grace—nothing more, nothing less.

The Scripture makes it clear that grace is the gift of God. And “the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior . . . not because of works done by us in righteousness” (Titus 3:4,5).

It is enough that Jesus died, was buried, and rose from the dead. The Bible tells us “Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve” (1 Corinthians 15:3-5).

This is most significant, because Christ’s burial was proof of His death. And proof of His resurrection was the fact that “He appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve.” Further proof of Christ’s resurrection was the empty tomb where He was buried. Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to the tomb, but were told by the angel, “You seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here, for he has risen, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay” (Matthew 28:5,6).

It is enough that Christians are “heaven-bound.” Jesus said: “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also” (John 14:1-3).

“I will come again” is the promise of Christ’s return. There are several references to His return in the Scriptures. At the moment of His ascension from earth to heaven, the two men who stood by His disciples said: “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into heaven? This JESUS who was taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw him go into heaven” (Acts 1:11).

No one knows when the return of Christ will actually take place. Some have speculated by guessing. Others have attempted by pointing to an actual day and time; but to no avail. Keep in mind, “Concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only” (Matthew 24:36).

Heaven is a prepared place for prepared people. The Bible says, “But, as it is written, what no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him” (1 Corinthians 2:9).

Are you “a prepared person” for heaven? If not? Why not? You can be right now by doing this. “If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved” (Romans 10:9,10).

The word justified means God declares you as being righteous when you are saved.
