Jesus is often referred to as Lord in the Scriptures. It is a title that is most fitting for our Savior Jesus Christ. Knowing Jesus Christ as Savior involves the recognition of His Lordship in our lives. This means Jesus must have complete control of the believer’s entire life—not part or portion thereof.
In trusting Jesus as Savior, we trust Him as Lord also. Jesus acknowledges His Lordship when He said to His disciples, “You call me Teacher and Lord, and you are right, for so I am.” (John 13:13). Jesus also declares of Himself “All authority in heaven and on earth is given to me” (Matthew 28:18).
When Jesus was born, the angel said, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord” (Luke 2:10,11). The good news of great joy was “a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.” The Bible also teaches that Jesus “is the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of kings and Lord of lords” (1 Timothy 6:15). Also, “On his robe and on his thigh he has a name written, King of kings and Lord of lords” (Revelations 19:16).
Jesus can’t be Lord of anyone’s life without the Salvation that He freely offers. The good news is Jesus died on the Cross for you as payment for your sins and mine. To receive the forgiveness that only Jesus offers, you must first repent of your sins and surrender your life to Him.
The Bible says, “If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved” (Romans 10:9,10). The word justified means God declares as righteous a person who accepts Jesus Christ as his or her own personal Savior, and is forgiven of their sins.
The Bible says, “For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved” (Romans 10:13). Eternal life is absolutely guaranteed to anyone who puts their faith in Jesus Christ, regardless of who they are and what they have done. Jesus is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He also lives to make intercession for them. “Christ has entered . . . into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God on our behalf” (Hebrews 9:24). The “now” means at the present time.
It is most important that when you receive Jesus as your Savior, you then look for a Bible-believing local church that believes and preaches that salvation is by Grace alone, through Faith alone, in Christ alone. Talk to the pastor of the church and share with him the spiritual transformation you’ve experienced. You would like to grow in your faith and live a life of greater meaning and purpose.
He Is risen from the dead, and He is lord!
Every knee shall bow, every tongue confess
That Jesus Christ is Lord!”
Jesus is Lord and will always be Lord. Philippians 2:9-11 says “Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”
To say Jesus Christ is Lord means that He “is the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone has immortality, who dwells in unapproachable light, whom no one has ever seen or can see. To him be honor and eternal dominion. Amen” (1 Timothy 6:15,16). How wonderful to know Jesus Christ is Lord.
Dr Charles Stanley writes, “He is in absolute control of all things—nothing happens without His divine permission or exists apart from Him. And a time is coming when everyone will acknowledge that only He is truly worthy of praise—even those who’ve spent their lives opposing Him (Is. 45:23,24).” (The Charles F. Stanley Life Principles Bible NKJV p. 1429).
Ascribing to you honor, praise, and glory;
For you, and you alone are worthy.
Hallelujah to the Lamb of God!
To the Lord of lords and King of kings.
Heartfelt worship, honor, and adoration;
Glorious now and forevermore. Amen.
