Blessed are the Meek

In His sermon on the Mount (the Beatitudes,) the Lord Jesus Christ said, “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth” (Matthew 5:5).  Who are the meek? The meek are those who are blessed, filled with humility and happy under all circumstances. Being humble and gentle towards others. Having power under control. Jesus was meek. He said. “Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am meek and lowly in heart, and you shall find rest for your souls“ (Matthew 11:29).  Moses was also meek. Numbers 12:3 says, “Now the man Moses was very meek, more than all people who […]

Equipped For Godly Living

When we trusted the Lord Jesus Christ as our personal Savior, we were not left to go our way and live the Christian life on our own. God has a plan for your life and my life.  At the point of conversion, the believer’s body becomes a temple of God’s Holy Spirit. The Bible says, “Your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God. You are not your own, for you were bought with a price, so glory God in your body” (1 Corinthians 6:19,20). The Christian is the purchased possession of God. “The […]

An Invitation from God

God’s compassion and love is reflected in His timely invitation to all mankind. Firstly, God calls on Israel to return, and then to the Gentile nations to have their spiritual needs met.                           “Come, everyone who thirsts, come to the waters;         and he who has no money, come, buy and eat!  Come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.         Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread,  and your labor for that which does not satisfy?         Listen […]

GRATITUDE

Gratitude is a beautiful word because of what it means and does. Generally, gratitude means to express thankfulness and appreciation for an act of kindness. It means the recognition of the goodness of a gift and the thoughtfulness and kindness of the giver of that gift,  Gratitude also means not taking things for granted. Rather, it helps us to maintain healthy relationships and preserves good friendships. For Christians, gratitude can be considered a “spiritual discipline,” meaning that we are to be grateful to God not only for life itself and the blessings thereof. But also for the “lean” and uncertain […]

Why Christmas?

Traditionally, Christmas Day is the 25th of December. Christians around the world celebrate this day as the birth of Jesus Christ. The Bible gives us the conception and birth of Jesus as follows: “Now the birth of Jesus Christ took place in this way. When his mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child from the Holy Spirit. And her husband Joseph, being a just man and unwilling to put her to shame, resolved to divorce her quietly. But as he considered these things, behold, an angel of the Lord […]

Why Attend Church?

Why attend Church? The word Church is derived from the Greek word “ekklesia,” meaning assembly or gathering. Therefore, the Church consists of believers in Jesus Christ who assemble or gather in a physical building for worship, fellowship, prayer, Bible study, communion, evangelism, discipleship, and other spiritual activities. There is the “local Church” and there is the “worldwide Church.” The local Church is a gathering of believers that serve a local community. The Church worldwide is the collective group of believers around the world. Every believer is a member of the body of Jesus Christ. First Corinthians 12:27 says “Now you are […]

Diligently seeking the Lord

The twenty-third Psalm begins ”The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.” And concludes . . . “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD forever” (Psalm 23:1,6.). This “He and me” Psalm about our divine Shepherd is very well known and recited by Christians and non-christians alike throughout the world. It is a Psalm of King David.  Because the Lord is my Shepherd, I will not lack anything. And goodness and mercy is guaranteed to follow me during my lifetime here on earth.  God will always be […]

Thanksgiving and Praise

Psalm 100 is a beautiful Psalm with only 5 short verses that can be read in half a minute. This is a Psalm of joyful praise, gladness and thanksgiving. Psalm 100 is a call to all people to thankfully and joyfully worship the sovereign God of all the earth He created.  [1] Make a joyful noise to the LORD, all the earth! [2] Serve the LORD with gladness! Come into His presence with singing! [3] Know that the LORD, He is God! It is He who made us, and we are His; we are His people, and the sheep of His pasture. [4] Enter His gates with […]

The Dire Need For Prayer

“If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land” (2 Chronicles 7:14). The following is an excerpt from Dr Charles Stanley’s sermon titled A CALL TO PRAYER on Sunday, November 14, 2011. “We are living in one of the most dangerous periods in history. We see it every day.  All around the world, crime is on the rise, corruption goes unchecked, and hatred for the things of God swells. With each passing […]
