“Living Forever Is Possible!”

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, life expectancy at birth in the United States is as follows. Males: 73.5 years, and Females: 79.3 years. This is as far as human life as we know it is concerned. However, God freely offers ‘another’ kind of life, which is “eternal life.” And it is available free to all humans. A person can either accept it or reject it. Eternal life means exactly what it says, that is, to live forever.  Those who have trusted Jesus Christ as their Savior are assured of having eternal life. The Bible says, “God gave us eternal […]

“Pray, Pray, Pray, and Pray!”

When we hear the word prayer, for many of us, we automatically think that it means prayer to God. And in most cases it does. For the Christian, prayer is essentially an integral part of having faith in Almighty God as our heavenly Father.   Here is an excerpt from the Sermon Notes by the late Dr Charles Stanley under the topic: Standing Tall And Strong Through Prayer. “Prayer is powerful. It allows us to cast our burdens on God and receive guidance and provision from Him. All too often, however, we take this privilege for granted. Instead of turning to […]

“The Vicissitudes of Life”

The word vicissitude is a big word and hardly used, but its meaning is very applicable to life. It simply means a change in circumstances or fortune; typically one that is unwelcome or unpleasant.” Another explanation is “changes that take place at various times in the life of an individual including situations when conditions become worse.” We have also heard of life’s “ups and downs,” which means a succession of both good and bad experiences. The question then becomes: How should a Christian respond when confronted to the inevitable vicissitudes of life? The answer(s) can be found in God’s Word — the Bible or the […]

“Better off by being a Christian”

Christians are much better off by being Christians instead of not being Christians. The main reason is we are living in a godless, sinful, immoral, corrupt, evil, wicked, and spiritually bankrupt world.  When one comes to trust Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, a spiritual transformation occurs in that person’s innermost being, and  affects his mindset, behavior, and attitude towards God and others.  It was definitely not God’s intent to call Christians home to heaven immediately after they trusted Christ as their Savior. God allows Christians to remain in the world to, “Fear God and keep His commandments, for this is the whole duty […]

The Gospel of God

The word gospel means “good news.” And the good news is that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, died for the sins of mankind, was buried, and rose again the third day. The source of the gospel is Almighty God, and the gospel is the power of God for salvation to every person who believes it. In his letter to the Corinthians, the Apostle Paul explains the meaning and importance of the gospel. Here is the text: “Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, and by which […]

First Principles of Christianity

‘Principles’ are beliefs which govern one’s personal behavior and attitudes. With this in mind, first principles can be appropriately applied to Christianity.  First and foremost, the Scriptures (Bible) is God’s sole authority to mankind. No other book can be a substitute. Why? “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work” (2 Timothy 3:16,17).   Christians believe there is only one God (the Father), God the Son (Jesus Christ), and God the Holy Spirit (God’s presence in the Christian). […]

“Not By Works”

If anyone thinks that they can get to heaven by works, even if the works are considered  “good works” by man’s standards, they are sadly mistaken. The Word of God plainly states: “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast” (Ephesians 2:8,9). The biblical text essentially includes these words: Not a result of works, so that no one may boast. God knows how mankind operates on the basis of his sinful thoughts and deeds.   The Lord Jesus Christ paid the […]

Jesus’ Blood and its Significance!

“God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16).  Because of sin, the world has always been in sinful rebellion against God. But in spite of this, God loves the world. And His desire is that sinful man be reconciled to Him. This has been made possible through the reconciling work of Jesus Christ on the cross. The Bible says, “For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or […]

How Godly Are You?”

What is the Bible on this topic? In his letter to Timothy, the apostle Paul writes: “But godliness with contentment is great gain, for we brought nothing into the world, and we cannot take anything out of the world. But if we have food and clothing, with these we will be content” (1 Timothy 6:6-8). No newborn is able to bring anything into the world. Neither can the deceased take anything out of the world. This is a stark reality of life that no one can deny or change. Perhaps some may even try to prove otherwise. Paul. Said: “For I have learned […]

The Power of Prayer

“The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working” (James 5:16). Prayer is communication with God Almighty, the Christian’s ‘heavenly Father.’ During prayer, we direct our thoughts toward God to make known to Him our needs and wishes. And also to wait for His response to our request(s).  It is not that God doesn’t know what we are going to pray about before we do. God is omniscient, that is, He is all-knowing. He knows everything in the past and in the future. And that includes us as well. He promises, “Before they call I will answer; and while they […]
