THE LORD IS MY SHEPHERD!

“The LORD is my Shepherd” is the beginning of the popular and well-known 23rd Psalm. And it signifies a deeply personal relationship where God knows His sheep by their name and provides for their well-being, comfort, and happiness. This Psalm  was written by King David. In it he portrays God as the Great Shepherd who readily provides for His “sheep.” David regards himself as a sheep who is in need of sustenance, protection, provision, and strength.  1  My Shepherd is the LORD in heaven. And I lack absolutely nothing. 2  He generously provides spiritual counsel and guidance for me from day to day. […]

“THE HEAVENS DECLARE THE GLORY OF GOD!”

“The heavens declare the glory of God; and the skies proclaim the work of His hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge” (Psalm 19:1,2). Thus begins this beautiful declaration of Psalm 19 by King David that displays the universe as a revelation of the greatness, power, wisdom, and Deity of Almighty God.  The following is an adaptation  and not the actual Psalm 19:1-14 we read of in the holy Scriptures. “The heavens announce the glory of God, and the firmament proclaims His creativity. And by looking up into the heavens we can know for certain there is […]

The Self-Existent God

Christians are under constant attack for their faith in Almighty God. God Himself is also under attack by the very people He created.  There are those who doubt God’s existence and the fact that He created the universe.  The Bible says, “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth” (Genesis 1:1).  The Bible also says this about the Lord Jesus Christ: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him and without Him was anything made that was made” […]

“The Persistent Widow”

During His earthly ministry, the Lord Jesus Christ told a parable to His disciples about an encounter with a judge “who did not fear God nor regard man,” and a widow who consistently came to him asking, “get justice for me from my adversary.”  This parable is found in Luke 18:1-8, and it teaches a lot about the Christian and prayer.  Hence, Jesus is instructing us to “pray and not lose heart.” Some Christians are discouraged to “persevere in prayer” when the answers don’t seem to be coming as they expect. The lesson in Luke 18:1-8 is that we continue praying until […]

THE REASON I  WRITE  BLOGS

A “blog” is an on-line page where the writer expresses his observations, opinions, and experiences about a particular topic or subject matter. As a born-again believer in the Lord Jesus Christ for many years, I have discovered that writing blogs is an excellent, informal, and conversational way to inspire and encourage Christians and to invite non-Christians readers who may be interested in knowing about the Christian life and service. My intent in writing blogs is certainly not to promote myself in any way, shape or form. However,  there are times when I may use pronouns such as I, we, our, us, […]

The story of Christmas

Once again Christians around the world will be celebrating the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ.  Anyone is free to celebrate Christmas in any way they choose but “born-again” believers in the Lord Jesus Christ,  recognize the true meaning of Christmas. The date of Jesus’ birth is not recorded in the Bible. For many years, December 25 has been observed and celebrated as His birthday, by both Christians and non-Christians.  The fact is that Jesus came into the world over 2,000 years ago, at which time the angel proclaimed, “For there is born to you this day in the city of David a […]

“CONSIDER CHRISTMAS!”

Here is an acrostic of the word CHRISTMAS. It represents some of what the Bible teaches about the Lord Jesus Christ whose Christians celebrate every year. Christ –  “Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God” (1 Corinthians 1:24) Highest  —- “He will be great and will be called the Son of the Highest” (Luke 1:32) Redeemer  —  “For I know that my Redeemer lives” (Job 19 19:25) Incarnate  — “Jesus Christ is God Incarnate” (John 1:14) Savior  — “The Father sent His Son to be the Savior of the world” (1 John 4:14) Truth  —  “I am the way, and the Truth, and the life” (John 14:6) Mighty God  — “His name shall be called […]

“Take Time and Consider Nature!”

It is a great and wonderful experience to take a few moments and consider the beauty and splendor of nature.  It was the creative power of God why the universe came into existence. The Scripture states: “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth” (Genesis 1:1). The universe is a revelation of the power and Deity of God. The Scripture declares: “For since the creation of the world . . . God’s eternal power and divine nature have been clearly seen” (Romans 1:20). It was a sunny mid-morning in San Antonio, Texas on April 25, 2018, and while I […]

A special day that means so much

I ask myself, “What does Thanksgiving Day mean to me and others?” The word “thanksgiving” means ‘expressing gratitude especially to God.’ The Merriam-Webster dictionary gives this definition, “a public acknowledgement or celebration of divine goodness.” Traditionally, Americans celebrate Thanksgiving Day as gathering with family and friends to give thanks for our many blessings during the year and beyond. We have the freedom to choose how we want to celebrate this important occasion. Perhaps many either don’t know or have forgotten why the day was established. Personally, I am especially thankful to God for each morning I can rise from my […]

How Thankful Are You?

One of the most beautiful words we can think of is the word  “thanksgiving.” It implies gratitude, appreciation, and thoughtfulness.  Christians ought always to be thankful to God for Salvation provided in the Person of His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, and what He accomplished for all mankind through His sacrificial death and shed blood on the cross.  The Scripture says that “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). This means that  every person, regardless of ethnicity and background, has fallen short of God’s holy, righteous, and perfect standard because of sin. As a result, mankind […]
