“The Persistent Widow”

During His earthly ministry, the Lord Jesus Christ told a parable to His disciples about an encounter with a judge “who did not fear God nor regard man,” and a widow who consistently came to him asking, “get justice for me from my adversary.”  This parable is found in Luke 18:1-8, and it teaches a lot about the Christian and prayer.  Hence, Jesus is instructing us to “pray and not lose heart.” Some Christians are discouraged to “persevere in prayer” when the answers don’t seem to be coming as they expect. I ask myself, “What does Thanksgiving Day mean to me and others?” The word “thanksgiving” means ‘expressing gratitude especially to God.’ The Merriam-Webster dictionary gives this definition, “a public acknowledgement or celebration of divine goodness.” Traditionally, Americans celebrate Thanksgiving Day as gathering with family and friends to give thanks for our many blessings during the year and beyond. One of the most beautiful words we can think of is the word  “thanksgiving.” It implies gratitude, appreciation, and thoughtfulness.  Christians ought always to be thankful to God for Salvation provided in the Person of His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, and what He accomplished for all mankind through His sacrificial death and shed blood on the cross.  The Scripture says that “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23).
