Giving thanks to God

How thankful are we as a people? Is it only on the annual “Thanksgiving Day” in November? Shame on us if that’s the case. Giving thanks to God should be an integral part of daily life. Are you listening atheists? Each morning we get awake, no one knows for sure what lies ahead that day. Life as we know it, is one of the most uncertain things in the world. Therefore, we should give God thanks for sparing our lives to see another day.  Tomorrow may not come. God says, “Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go into […]

“Lukewarm” or “Wishy-washy”

This is not an exciting topic in any way. However, it is something worthwhile to think about in our worship and service to God. It is most challenging to live a life of total commitment to God and His cause. The world around us is evil, immoral, corrupt, lawless, and godless where people are “worshipping and serving the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever.”  In his letter to the Church at Corinth, the apostle Paul exhorted the Christians: “Examine yourselves, to see whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Or do you not realize this about yourselves, […]

What now . . .

Christmas 2019 is now history. The Christmas-Spirit, spending-spree, gift-giving, and feasting, are all gone until the next time. Where do we go from here? Each passing day, some of us might not even think about Christmas—what we did, how, when, and why we did it. Yes, Christmas 2019 is gone. However, Jesus Christ, whose birth many of us celebrated, remains with us. He is no longer the “Baby Jesus,” but as the Son of God, He loves us, died for us, and now lives for us. It was God’s divine plan and purpose that Jesus would enter human life when […]

Dead or Alive? Which?

“And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God” (2 Corinthians 4:3,4). “The god of this world” is Satan, who has “blinded the minds” of unbelievers to prevent them from trusting Jesus Christ who died, was buried and rose from the dead and now seated at God’s right hand in heaven. We live in a world of narcotics, alcoholism, immorality, corruption, […]

God’s Omnipresence

God is “Omnipresent.” This means God is present everywhere and at all times. No matter how mortal man may think or try, he cannot escape the presence of Almighty God. It is absolutely impossible. The ‘all-seen eye’ of God and His inescapable presence ever abides with His people. God’s presence is undeniably inescapable. King David wrote the following psalm in which he asks God: “Where shall I go from your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from your presence? If I ascend to heaven, you are there! If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there! If I take the […]

Jesus is born

The Bible says, “Now the birth of Jesus Christ took place in this way. When his mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child from the Holy Spirit. She shall bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus for he will save his people from their sins” (Matthew 1:18,21).  “Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the east came to Jerusalem, saying, “Where is he who has been born king of the Jews? For we saw his […]

Reconciliation

In Christian theology, the word “reconcile” means “to change throughly.” The Christian’s reconciliation was accomplished by the Lord Jesus Christ in His shed blood and death on the Cross. The apostle Paul declares, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself” (2 Corinthians 5:17-19). Reconciliation, in its various forms, occurs several times in the Pau’s letters to the various Churches. He […]

The Holiness of God

God is absolutely holy. His name is holy. His Word is holy. Holiness is one of God’s divine attributes. And it means God is righteous and perfect in all His ways and He is completely worthy to receive glory, honor, and power. “Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created” (Revelation 4:11).   God is the One who is high and lifted up—eternal in heaven. Our eternal God is above everyone and everything. He has no earthly equal. “For thus says the One who is high and lifted […]

Standing Still

“Now therefore stand still and see this great thing which the LORD will do before your eyes” (1 Samuel 12:16). One of the essential disciplines of the Christian life is waiting on God. And God’s timing is always perfect. In general, many of us don’t like to wait for anything. We want everything immediately if not sooner. Because people assign themselves to eat and drink in a hurry, there are many “fast food” restaurants that cater to this requirement. Also available are instant coffee, instant tea, instant soup, instant dessert. Companies realize the ongoing need for quick services hence their availability […]

Why Fear?

“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand” (Isaiah 41:10). These are certainly very comforting and assuring words from Almighty God. This verse is both a command and a promise from God to His children. His sustaining love, mercy, and grace are guaranteed to be with us, therefore, we have nothing to fear. Fear is a lack of courage and inspiration, and it allows doubt and skepticism to get the better of us.  According to Webster’s dictionary, “Fear is the […]
