The Resurrection of Jesus Christ

The four gospels (Matthew 28:1-10), Mark 16:1-14), Luke 24:1-12), and John 20:1-18) present four narratives about the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. Put together, they give us comprehensive details of Christ’s resurrection. Here is Matthew’s account of the order of events. “Now after the Sabbath, toward the dawn of the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to see the tomb. 2 And behold, there was a great earthquake, for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled back the stone and sat on it. 3 His appearance was like lightning, and his clothing […]

Human Suffering

Our world as we know it, is changing by the hour. Many of us are financially and emotionally stressed. During this time of the COVID-29 pandemic, perhaps some may be asking, why all this human suffering? On the other hand, it might be hard to fathom why does God permit human suffering especially when good people also suffer? This seems to be fair and logical observations, especially as people are suffering and people are dying with no end in sight.  Suffering has always been a natural part of human existence. And suffering comes in various forms. For example; trials, difficulties, […]

Coronavirus disease (COVID-19)

Coronavirus is an infectious disease that began in Wuhan, China in December 2019. Since then it has spread like wild fire across America and around the world. No country is immune from the disease. So many have suffered or died as a result. And the fatalities keep rising worldwide. Hospitals and healthcare facilities and staff have been overwhelmed to treat those that are affected. No one has ever seen anything of this magnitude in living memory. Although the elderly and people with pre-existing health issues are most vulnerable, this virus is no respecter of persons. No one, but no one […]

Justification

Human beings were created in “God’s image and likeness” (Genesis 1:26,27). However, sin came into the world through the disobedience of the very first human being God created with the result that “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). This required divine intervention by God to reconcile man to Himself.  God is holy, just, and righteous, and is “of purer eyes than to see evil and cannot look at wrong” (Habakkuk 1:13). Therefore, God acted to restore the fellowship man once had with God by providing His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, who “For our sake he made him […]

Are you like Abraham?

“For what does the Scripture say? Abraham believed God, and it was counted him as righteousness.” (Romans 4:3). This is a most important question that pertains to everyone.  Why? Because it has “eternal”l consequences. In his letter to the Christians at Rome, the apostle Paul refers us back to Genesis 15:6 where the Bible says this about Abraham, “And he believed the LORD, and he counted it to him as righteousness.” (Genesis 15:6). Paul also makes reference to this statement in his letter to the Galatians “Just as Abraham “believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness.” (Galatians 3:6). We also read, “and the […]

Giving thanks to God

How thankful are we as a people? Is it only on the annual “Thanksgiving Day” in November? Shame on us if that’s the case. Giving thanks to God should be an integral part of daily life. Are you listening atheists? Each morning we get awake, no one knows for sure what lies ahead that day. Life as we know it, is one of the most uncertain things in the world. Therefore, we should give God thanks for sparing our lives to see another day.  Tomorrow may not come. God says, “Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go into […]

“Lukewarm” or “Wishy-washy”

This is not an exciting topic in any way. However, it is something worthwhile to think about in our worship and service to God. It is most challenging to live a life of total commitment to God and His cause. The world around us is evil, immoral, corrupt, lawless, and godless where people are “worshipping and serving the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever.”  In his letter to the Church at Corinth, the apostle Paul exhorted the Christians: “Examine yourselves, to see whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Or do you not realize this about yourselves, […]

What now . . .

Christmas 2019 is now history. The Christmas-Spirit, spending-spree, gift-giving, and feasting, are all gone until the next time. Where do we go from here? Each passing day, some of us might not even think about Christmas—what we did, how, when, and why we did it. Yes, Christmas 2019 is gone. However, Jesus Christ, whose birth many of us celebrated, remains with us. He is no longer the “Baby Jesus,” but as the Son of God, He loves us, died for us, and now lives for us. It was God’s divine plan and purpose that Jesus would enter human life when […]

Dead or Alive? Which?

“And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God” (2 Corinthians 4:3,4). “The god of this world” is Satan, who has “blinded the minds” of unbelievers to prevent them from trusting Jesus Christ who died, was buried and rose from the dead and now seated at God’s right hand in heaven. We live in a world of narcotics, alcoholism, immorality, corruption, […]

God’s Omnipresence

God is “Omnipresent.” This means God is present everywhere and at all times. No matter how mortal man may think or try, he cannot escape the presence of Almighty God. It is absolutely impossible. The ‘all-seen eye’ of God and His inescapable presence ever abides with His people. God’s presence is undeniably inescapable. King David wrote the following psalm in which he asks God: “Where shall I go from your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from your presence? If I ascend to heaven, you are there! If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there! If I take the […]
