Be Strong!

“Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong. Let all that you do be done in love ” (1 Corinthians 16:13,14). Thus says the Word of God. Christians are being exhorted to “be watchful, stand firm in the faith . . . be strong.” Is has become increasingly difficult in our beloved America, land of the free, to stand in the faith and be strong for God. “Political correctness” is one of the main culprits. Politics, corruption, greed, lawlessness, and confusion appear to be at all levels of society.    One only has to listen to the rhetoric and false promises […]

The Lord’s Supper

The Lord’s Supper and baptism are two ordinances or sacraments instituted by the Lord Jesus Christ during His earthly ministry. The Lord’s Supper commemorates the suffering and substitutionary death of Jesus Christ on the Cross for the sins of mankind. Baptism on the other hand, is a demonstration of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ as it pertains to the believer. These ordinances are observed by Christian denotations, usually on Sunday (the Lord’s Day).  Christians around the world rejoice in this wonderful and foundational truth “that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, […]

Change for the better

When a person accepts the Lord Jesus Christ as his or her Savior, that person becomes a “new creation.” The Bible states, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; the new has come” (2 Corinthians 5:17). A new creation means a new lifestyle that involves changes in our thought processes, speech, actions, behavior, and conduct. We are actually saying ‘good bye’ to the old lifestyle or the “old self.” As the Bible puts it, “seeing that you have put off the old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being […]

Joy or Happiness. Which?

Is there a difference between joy and happiness? Joy and happiness are similar in meaning to some extent. However, there is a distinct difference between the two words. Joy is ‘a confident and certain innermost feeling that circumstances do not change.’ Webster dictionary describes joy as “the emotion evoked by well-being, success, or good fortune, or the prospect of possessing what one desires.” Experience shows there is more about joy than this description. Joy definitely does not depend on circumstance, whereas happiness does. Happiness has to do with “external” factors such as people, places, things, status, wealth, possessions, etc. If things work out the […]

“He Is Not Here!”

Each and every Easter season Christians around the world rejoice and give thanks to the Almighty God for the death, burial, and resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on the Cross. This was the purpose for which Jesus came into the world. The apostle Paul in his letter to the Corinthian Church stated: “For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received; that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that He was buried, that He was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures” (1 Corinthians 15:3,4). Note, “I delivered to […]

The Eternal God

The God of the Bible, and the Creator of the universe, has always existed. God existed before everything. And He, as God, brought all things into existence. He is past, present, and future. God doesn’t owe His existence to anyone or anything. As proof of His “self-existence,” Moses, said to God, “If I come to the people of Israel and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is his name?’ what shall I say to them?” God said to Moses, “I AM WHOM I AM.” And he said, “Say this […]

Moments with the Word

God will bless and honor the person who takes time to read the Bible (the Holy Scriptures) and learn from it how live in a world that is in utter confusion, disarray, and disorder. Mortal man thinks he has the answers and solutions for every problem he faces. Why is it them do we need courts of law, judges, jurors, and law enforcement. Mortal man cannot govern himself.  Over many years of living, both Christians and non-christians alike, have proven over and over again that the Bible definitely has the answers and solutions for just about everything in life. And […]

A Rugged and Old Cross

The four gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John complement each other in recording the crucifixion of the Lord Jesus Christ. We read, “And when they came to the place which is called The Skull, there they crucified Him, and the criminals, one on His right and one on His left” (Luke 23:33). “The Skull” is also referred to as “Golgotha” or “Calvary.” In the Roman Empire, death on a cross was the method of punishment for certain criminals. Jesus died on a Roman Cross, not for any crime He had committed, but for the sins of mankind. And this was God’s […]

God or man?

Who is God and what is man? Who created who? Have you ever asked yourself these questions, or given thought to them? It is worth noting that we are living at a time when to some right is wrong, and wrong is right. One can hardly watch, read or listen to the news without the mention of evil, wickedness, murder, corruption, immorality, selfishness, greed, dishonesty. And the list goes on ad infinitum. One may therefore ask, who is responsible, or how did things get to this stage? Who has the answer, God or man? Let us consult the Holy Scriptures […]

The Glorious Church

The Church of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is the object and focus of His love. The apostle Paul writes to the Ephesians, “Christ loved the Church and gave Himself up for her, that He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, so that He might present the Church to Himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish” (Ephesians 5:25-27). Some translations read: “That He might present it to Himself aglorious Church.” Listed in the text are some noteworthy things about Christ and His […]
