Making the Right Choice!

God has created man with the ability to make choices in his life. Therefore, man can choose to make the right choice or the wrong choice. God desires that individuals make the right choice as this will have eternal outcomes. Besides, there is no middle path. As far as God is concerned one either makes the right choice or the wrong choice. The Bible says, “There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way to death” (Proverbs 14:12). Note the text: “a way that seems right to a man.” Man can choose this way if he desires. […]

Why People do Wrong Things?

We are living in an age where right seems to be wrong and wrong seems to be right for some people. History tells us that many have lived a lifetime of doing wrong things. Some have even been incarcerated as a result. Others have paid hefty fines as well. Sadly, some have never tried to change for the better. Perhaps they regard evil as good and good as evil. The Bible cautions those who do wrong things with this “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil” (Isaiah 5:20). The woe means great sorrow and distress. Perhaps one of the reasons […]

Why do I Love God?

If I were asked this question, I would be thrilled to give affirmative reasons. And these reasons come from a life-long Spirit-filled commitment of my allegiance to God. I love God, and I continue a loving relationship with Him. I learned to love God from a young age. Having been born and raised by Christian parents, I was taught what it really means to love the Supreme Creator of the Universe, who is God. Loving God is an individual commitment a person has to make for himself or herself. No one can love God on behalf of another person. As […]

Why be spiritually minded?

Why be spiritually minded? Some may ask. The Scripture gives the answer. The apostle Paul explains in his letter to the Christians at Rome. “For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace. For the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to God’s […]

Christ’s Atoning Work Is Done

he Bible tells us: “There no longer remains a sacrifice for sins” (Hebrews 10:26). When Christ died on the Cross, He secured an eternal redemption for us by paying the penalty for our sins once and for all.  Atonement means “reconciliation.” And sinful man is reconciled to God through the redemptive work of Jesus Christ on the Cross. “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. All this is from God, who through Christ has reconciled us to himself” (2 Corinthians 5:17,18).  The Bible says: “When Jesus had received the sour […]

“Heavenly Minded Christians”

Should Christians be “heavenly minded?” Yes, according to the Word of God. How else can one endeavor to live a life that’s pleasing to God. It’s not possible to please God and please the world at the same time. The apostle Paul writing to the Colossians says this, “If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God” (Colossians 3:1-3). […]

Should we wait upon God?

One of the disciplines of the christian life, and which requires patience, is waiting upon God. For example, when we pray, we must wait upon God for the answers. And this should be respected. Otherwise why pray if we are not prepared to wait. First and foremost, let us recognize that God is Sovereign, and as such He is fully in control of all things. Waiting upon God has great benefits for those who are willing to wait.  Here is a great promise to those who wait on the Lord. The prophet Isaiah wrote: “But they who wait for the LORD […]

Why Attend Church?

Why attend Church? The word Church is derived from the Greek word “ekklesia,” meaning assembly or gathering. Therefore, the Church consists of believers in Jesus Christ who assemble or gather in a physical building for worship, fellowship, prayer, Bible study, holy communion, evangelism, discipleship, and other spiritual activities. There is the “local Church” and there is the “worldwide Church.” The local Church is a gathering of believers that serve a local community. The Church worldwide is the collective group of believers around the world. Every believer is a member of the body of Jesus Christ. First Corinthians 12:27 says “Now you […]

Remembering the Lord’s Sacrifice

The Lord Jesus left two sacraments for the Church before His departure for heaven. One is the Lord’s Supper, also called Holy Communion, and the other is Baptism.  Remembering the Lord’s sacrifice in His death on the Cross is to be reminded that it was all in God’s plan for man to be forgiven of his sins. The Scripture makes it very clear, “Without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins” (Hebrews 9:22). This means only the shed blood of Jesus Christ could effectively satisfy divine justice once and for all.  Regarding the Lord’s Supper, the apostle Paul writes: “For I received from the […]

“A Quiet Time”

Many of us live busy lives and are ‘on the go’ most of the time. Some from dawn to dusk every day. If you are a Christian, are you in this category? Thank God for Sunday when we can attend church for worship services.  A quiet time from the routines of life is absolutely essential for Christians to take a break from the pressures of life and spend quality time in God’s presence for prayer and spiritual refreshment.  The Lord Jesus knew the importance of a quiet time for prayer. The Bible says this about Him. “But He would withdraw to […]
